Andy Vargas is an American politician serving as a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives for the 3rd Essex district, representing parts of the city of Haverhill. First elected in a 2017 special election, he has since run unopposed in subsequent cycles. Vargas currently serves as the Chairperson of the Joint Committee on Community Development and Small Businesses and leads the Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus. A member of the Democratic Party, he is a vocal advocate for increasing housing supply and is associated with the YIMBY movement.
