A member of the Democratic Party, he represented District 40 in the Oregon House from 2003 to 2013, where he held leadership roles including House Majority Leader. Throughout his legislative career, Hunt focused on transportation infrastructure, education funding, and healthcare expansion. Following his tenure in the state legislature, he transitioned into executive roles in the private and non-profit sectors, including serving as the CEO of the Pacific Northwest Defense Coalition. He currently serves as a member of the Clackamas Community College Board and as the Executive Director of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Clackamas.
