Ansar Ahmad is an Indonesian politician currently serving as the Governor of the Riau Islands. Born in Kijang, Bintan Island, he began his career in local government before serving as the Regent of Bintan for ten years from 2005 to 2015. Following his tenure as regent, he was elected to the People's Representative Council in 2019. He assumed the governorship in 2021 after winning the 2020 gubernatorial election. A member of the Golkar party, he is notably recognized for his advocacy for the construction of the Batam-Bintan Bridge to improve regional connectivity.
