Ashanti F. Martinez is an American politician serving as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates for District 22 since 2023. Born in Washington, D.C., and a graduate of Howard University, he previously worked as a constituent services director and policy analyst. Martinez is the first Latino to represent District 22 and the first openly gay person to represent Prince George's County in the Maryland General Assembly. In 2025, he was appointed as the House majority whip. His legislative priorities include universal health care, environmental protection, criminal justice reform, and LGBTQ+ rights.
