Asta Vrečko

Asta Vrečko is a Slovenian politician and art historian who has served as the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia since 2022. A member of the Left party, she became its coordinator in 2023. Before entering national government, she was a city councilor in Ljubljana and worked as an assistant professor at the University of Ljubljana, specializing in 20th-century art history and cultural policy. Her political career is rooted in activism, having co-founded the Initiative for Democratic Socialism.
