Atef Tarawneh

Atef Tarawneh is a Jordanian politician who served as the Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2013 to 2020. Born in 1954 in Khalidiyah, he began his career as a civil engineer, working in Saudi Arabia and various Jordanian municipalities before entering private business. First elected to parliament in 2003, he became a prominent political figure, known for his advocacy regarding Palestinian statehood and his leadership of the Watan bloc. His tenure as Speaker was marked by multiple re-elections and significant involvement in regional parliamentary diplomacy.
