Baltej Singh Dhillon is a Canadian politician and retired police officer who has served as a member of the Senate of Canada representing British Columbia since 2025. Born in Malaysia, he immigrated to Canada in 1983 and gained national prominence as the first Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officer permitted to wear a turban while on duty, a landmark decision that followed significant public debate in 1990. During his 30-year career with the RCMP, he served as an investigator on the Air India bombing task force and as head of the British Columbia RCMP Provincial Intelligence Centre. Before his appointment to the Senate, he was a candidate for the British Columbia New Democratic Party in the 2024 provincial election.
