Barbara Janke

Barbara Janke, Baroness Janke, is a British politician and life peer who has served as a member of the House of Lords since 2014. Before entering national politics, she had a distinguished career in local government, serving as a councillor for the Clifton ward in Bristol and acting as the leader of Bristol City Council from 2005 to 2007 and again from 2009 to 2012. A former teacher of economics and modern languages, she was the first non-Labour leader of the Bristol City Council in decades, where she focused on cross-party administration and local governance reform.
