Basanta Das is an Indian politician from Assam who serves as a Member of the Assam Legislative Assembly representing the Mangaldoi constituency. Formerly a member of the Indian National Congress, he served as a cabinet minister in the Third Tarun Gogoi Ministry from 2011 to 2016, holding portfolios including fisheries, printing, stationery, public relations, water resources, and scheduled castes welfare. In March 2026, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the Assam Legislative Assembly election.
