Benali Hamdache

Benali Hamdache is a British politician serving as a Member of the London Assembly for the Green Party since May 2026. He has also served as a councillor for Highbury ward on the Islington London Borough Council since 2022, where he previously led the Green group. Born in Nottingham to an Algerian father and an English mother, Hamdache graduated from Aston University before pursuing postgraduate studies. A long-time Green Party campaigner, he has stood as a candidate in multiple elections and co-founded the pressure group Greens Organise in 2024. He is openly gay and has been a vocal advocate for LGBT rights.
