A member of the Christian Social Union (CSU), he previously served as the second mayor of Plößberg and as the leader of the CSU faction in the Weiden city council. Zeitler holds a doctorate in political science from the University of Regensburg, having studied in both Prague and Regensburg. Before his successful mayoral bid in 2026, he was an active local politician and the district treasurer of the CSU in the Upper Palatinate region.
