Bert Wijbenga is a Dutch politician and former police official who served as the Mayor of Vlaardingen from 2021 to 2026. Prior to his mayoral tenure, he was an alderman and deputy mayor of Rotterdam between 2018 and 2021, where he managed portfolios including public space and integration. His earlier career was spent in law enforcement, where he rose to the rank of chief commissioner and served as the police chief of the Flevoland regional corps. Additionally, he held the position of chairman of the board for the housing corporation Woonbron in Rotterdam. He is a member of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD).
