Brian Whittle is a Scottish politician and former international athlete who has served as a Member of the Scottish Parliament for the South Scotland region since 2016. Before entering politics, he enjoyed a distinguished career in athletics, winning gold medals in the 4 × 400 metres relay at the 1986 and 1994 European Athletics Championships and competing in the 1988 Summer Olympics. As an MSP, he has held the position of Shadow Minister for Public Health, Social Care, Mental Wellbeing and Sport, focusing on health and sporting policy.
