Buffy Wicks

Buffy Wicks is an American politician serving as a member of the California State Assembly, representing the 14th district. Before her election in 2018, she was a prominent political strategist, notably serving as a key architect of Barack Obama's grassroots organizing model and as deputy director of the White House Office of Public Engagement. In the legislature, Wicks has focused heavily on housing policy, advocating for increased construction to address the state's housing crisis, and has been a member of the California Legislative Progressive Caucus. She gained international attention in 2020 for advocating for family leave while participating in legislative sessions with her newborn child.
