Representing the Toa Payoh Central division within the Bishan–Toa Payoh Group Representation Constituency, he serves as a member of the People's Action Party. Prior to his political career, he was recognized for his community work, notably being named The Straits Times Singaporean of the Year in 2020 for his efforts in supporting migrant workers. He previously served as the executive director of the Chinatown Heritage Centre and has expressed a commitment to strengthening community resilience and fostering intergenerational projects.
