Carlos Ramiro Martínez

Carlos Ramiro Martínez Alvarado is a Guatemalan diplomat and politician serving as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala since January 2024. Born in Guatemala City in 1958, he graduated with a degree in international relations from the University of San Carlos and pursued further specialization in Italy. Over a long diplomatic career, he has served multiple terms as vice minister of foreign affairs under various administrations and as Guatemala's ambassador to international organizations and foreign nations, before being appointed to lead the country's foreign ministry by President Bernardo Arévalo.
