Carsten Schatz is a German politician serving as a member of the Abgeordnetenhaus of Berlin. Born in Altenburg, he has been a prominent figure in Berlin politics, previously serving as the state manager for the PDS and later Die Linke. Schatz gained national attention as the first openly HIV-positive parliamentarian in Germany and has been a vocal advocate for anti-discrimination and public health initiatives. After leaving Die Linke in 2024, he currently serves as an independent member of the Berlin state parliament.
