Catherine Chabaud

Catherine Chabaud is a French politician, journalist, and former competitive sailor who serves as the Minister Delegate for the Sea and Fisheries. She made history in 1997 by becoming the first woman to complete a single-handed, non-stop round-the-world yacht race during the Vendée Globe. Transitioning into environmental advocacy and politics, she co-founded the Ocean and Climate Platform, served as a member of the French Economic, Social and Environmental Council, and was a Member of the European Parliament from 2019 to 2024 before being appointed to government office.
