Celeste Ascencio Ortega

Reyna Celeste Ascencio Ortega is a Mexican politician and activist of Purépecha indigenous descent. She currently serves as a Senator of the Republic for the state of Michoacán, having been elected in the 2024 general election. Previously, she served as a plurinominal member of the Chamber of Deputies from 2018 to 2024, representing the 64th and 65th sessions of Congress. A member of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena), she is recognized for her advocacy regarding human rights, specifically focusing on the rights of women, youth, indigenous peoples, and the LGBTQ+ community.
