Cemil Tugay

Cemil Tugay is a Turkish medical surgeon and politician serving as the 26th Mayor of İzmir since 2024. Born in 1967, he graduated from the Ege University Faculty of Medicine and practiced as a general practitioner before specializing in plastic surgery in 2000. Tugay entered politics in 2015 and previously served as the Mayor of the Karşıyaka district starting in 2019. A member of the Republican People's Party, he was elected to his current position in April 2024. His tenure has been marked by efforts to manage municipal labor relations and contract negotiations.
