Chandra Kant Raut is a Nepalese politician, scientist, and former activist. Born in Saptari district, he gained prominence as the founder of the Alliance for Independent Madhesh, advocating for the rights of the Madhesi people. In 2019, he renounced secessionist activities to join mainstream politics, subsequently founding the Janamat Party. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 but resigned from his parliamentary seat in September 2025 following widespread civil protests.
