He was elected to represent the constituency NA-65 Gujrat-IV in the 2024 Pakistani general election as a candidate for the Pakistan Muslim League (N). Abbas secured his seat by defeating his opponent with 90,982 votes. He is the brother of Zaheer Ahmad Babar, who serves as the 16th Chief of Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force.
