Chris Hipkins is a New Zealand politician who has served as the Leader of the Opposition since November 2023 and has been the Member of Parliament for Remutaka since 2008. A member of the Labour Party, he previously served as the 41st Prime Minister of New Zealand from January to November 2023. Throughout his career, Hipkins held various ministerial portfolios, including Minister for the Public Service, Minister for Education, Minister for Health, and Minister for the COVID-19 response. Often described as a political 'fixer' for his competence in managing complex portfolios, he played a central role in the government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and criminology from Victoria University of Wellington.
