Chris Mathias is an American politician and attorney currently serving as a member of the Idaho House of Representatives for the 19th district. A veteran of the United States Coast Guard, he holds a Juris Doctor from Vermont Law School and a doctorate in law and public policy from Northeastern University. Before his election, he held various academic and administrative roles, including serving as the chief academic officer for the Idaho State Board of Education. Mathias is notable for being the first African American man to serve in the Idaho Legislature.
