Christian Manuel

Christian Manuel is an American politician serving as a member of the Texas House of Representatives for District 22. Born in Nederland and raised in Port Arthur, Texas, he spent eighteen years working as the chief of staff for his predecessor, Representative Joe Deshotel, before being elected to the legislature in 2022. Sworn into office on January 10, 2023, Manuel is recognized as one of the first openly gay Black men to serve in the Texas Legislature. His political career is defined by his extensive experience in legislative operations and his commitment to representing the interests of his constituents in Southeast Texas.
