Jesús G. "Chuy" García is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for Illinois's 4th congressional district since 2019. A prominent progressive figure, he previously served on the Chicago City Council, in the Illinois Senate, and on the Cook County Board of Commissioners. Throughout his career, García has been a vocal advocate for immigrant-friendly policies and community development. He has twice run for mayor of Chicago, in 2015 and 2023, and remains a significant influence in local and national Democratic politics.
