Previously, she served as the Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Cyber Security from 2022 to 2024. Before entering federal politics, O'Neil was the youngest female mayor in Australian history, having led the City of Greater Dandenong at age 23, and worked as an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company. Her political focus areas include economic policy, national security, cyber resilience, and social welfare.
