Clare Oumou Verbeten is an American politician serving as a member of the Minnesota Senate for the 66th district since 2023. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party, she made history alongside Erin Maye Quade as one of the first openly LGBTQ women and first Black women elected to the Minnesota Senate. Before her legislative career, she worked in political organizing and public affairs, including roles with the North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters and the city of Saint Paul. In the Senate, she has focused on criminal justice reform, sponsoring legislation to ban no-knock warrants and improve conditions for incarcerated individuals.
