Claude Carignan is a Canadian politician and lawyer who has served as a member of the Senate of Canada since 2009. Appointed by Prime Minister Stephen Harper, he previously held significant leadership roles, including Leader of the Government in the Senate from 2013 to 2015 and Leader of the Opposition in the Senate from 2015 to 2017. Before his federal career, he served as the mayor of Saint-Eustache from 2000 to 2009. A member of the Quebec Bar, Carignan has an extensive background in civil litigation, labour relations, and public safety policy.
