Claudio Scajola

Claudio Scajola is an Italian politician and public administrator currently serving as the Mayor of Imperia, a position he has held since 2018, and as the President of the Province of Imperia since 2021. A long-standing figure in Italian politics, he previously served as a member of the Chamber of Deputies for Forza Italia from 1996 to 2013 and held several ministerial roles in the Berlusconi governments, including Minister of the Interior and Minister of Economic Development. Educated in law at the University of Genoa, Scajola began his career in public administration in the 1970s. Throughout his career, he has been a prominent, albeit sometimes controversial, figure in Italian center-right politics, known for his organizational work in building Forza Italia and his extensive involvement in local governance in Liguria.
