Cyril Ramaphosa is a South African politician and businessman who has served as the President of South Africa since 2018. A former anti-apartheid activist and trade union leader, he rose to prominence as the secretary-general of the National Union of Mineworkers and later served as the chief negotiator for the African National Congress during the transition to democracy. After a successful career in the private sector, he returned to politics, serving as Deputy President of South Africa from 2014 to 2018 before assuming the presidency. He is a member of the African National Congress and has focused his administration on economic reform and addressing the COVID-19 pandemic.
