Dan Jarvis is a British politician and former Army officer who has served as the Member of Parliament for Barnsley North since 2011. A member of the Labour and Co-operative Party, he previously served as the Mayor of South Yorkshire from 2018 to 2022. Before entering politics, Jarvis had a distinguished military career in the Parachute Regiment, serving in Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Iraq, and Afghanistan. In 2024, he was appointed Minister of State for Security, and in 2025, he took on the additional role of Minister of State in the Cabinet Office. Throughout his political career, he has focused on regional economic development, infrastructure, and social welfare.
