Danny Davis is an American politician who has served as the U.S. Representative for Illinois's 7th congressional district since 1997. Before his tenure in Congress, he was a member of the Chicago City Council and the Cook County Board of Commissioners. A member of the Congressional Black Caucus and the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Davis has focused on issues such as public health, social welfare, and community development. He holds a Ph.D. in public administration and previously worked as a high school teacher and health center administrator. In 2025, he announced that he would not seek reelection in 2026.
