David Tarnas

David Tarnas is an American politician currently serving as a member of the Hawaii House of Representatives for the 8th district. He previously represented the Kohala and Kona area in the state legislature from 1994 to 1998. After a twenty-year hiatus from elected office, he returned to the House in 2018. During his tenure, he has held leadership roles including chair of the Water, Land & Hawaiian Affairs Committee and the Judiciary and Hawaiian Affairs Committee. Tarnas holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Kalamazoo College and a master's degree in marine affairs from the University of Washington.
