A member of a politically active Pashtun family, he holds advanced degrees in Political Science, International Relations, and an academic background from Quaid-i-Azam University. Throughout his career, Kundi has been affiliated with several political parties, including the Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, and the Pakistan Muslim League (N), before joining the Sunni Ittehad Council. He previously served as an MNA from 2013 to 2018 and has been noted for his independent political stances, including his opposition to the FATA-KP merger bill in 2018.
