Debra Lekanoff

Debra Lekanoff is an American politician serving as a member of the Washington House of Representatives for the 40th district. A member of the Tlingit and Aleut tribes, she is recognized as the second Native American woman to serve in the Washington State House. First elected in 2018, Lekanoff has been a prominent advocate for Indigenous rights, notably sponsoring House Bill 1725, which established the first nationwide alert system for missing and murdered Indigenous people in the United States.
