Before his election to Congress, he served in the California State Assembly and the California State Senate, and was a member of the Orange County Board of Supervisors. A member of the Democratic Party, Correa has focused on issues including immigration, border security, and healthcare access. He is known for his advocacy for reproductive rights and his participation in bipartisan efforts, such as the task force investigating the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. Prior to his political career, he worked as an investment banker, real estate broker, and college instructor.
