Demond Meeks is an American politician and labor organizer currently serving as a member of the New York State Assembly representing the 137th district. A member of the Democratic Party, he became the second African American to represent Monroe County in the Assembly after winning his seat in 2020. Prior to his legislative career, Meeks worked as an administrative organizer for 1199SEIU and was an active member of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists. He holds educational credentials from Monroe Community College, SUNY-Brockport, and Cornell University.
