Dirk Abel is a German politician and the current Lord Mayor of Balingen, having assumed office in May 2023. A member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), he previously served as a member of the municipal council of Mössingen from 2019 to 2023. Before his election as mayor, Abel held various positions in the state administration of Baden-Württemberg, including roles in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Finance, as well as serving as head of the coordination and press office at the Tübingen Regional Council.
