Katrin Schmieder is a German politician and administrator who has served as the Lord Mayor of Norderstedt since January 2024. Born in 1968 in Garstedt, she began her career as a nurse before studying business administration with a focus on healthcare. She spent 26 years working in management at DAK-Gesundheit and served as an honorary judge at the Social Court of Hamburg. Before her election as mayor, she was a member of the Norderstedt city council and served as the city's second councilor, overseeing social affairs. Although she has been a member of Alliance 90/The Greens since 2011, she ran for the mayoral office in 2023 as an independent candidate, winning the runoff election with 56.3% of the vote.
