Dirk Gaw

Dirk Gaw is a German politician serving as a member of the Landtag of Hesse. Born in Essen in 1972, he previously worked as a police officer, reaching the rank of Polizeioberkommissar within the Federal Police. Gaw entered state politics in 2019 after being elected to the Hessian Landtag. Although he was a member of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party for several years, he resigned from both the party and its parliamentary group in March 2024, citing concerns over radicalization within the organization. He currently serves as an independent member of the state parliament.
