Gökay Akbulut is a German politician and social scientist of Kurdish Alevi background, currently serving as a member of the Bundestag representing Mannheim. Since her election in 2017, she has focused on migration and integration policy, serving as a spokeswoman for her parliamentary group. Before entering federal politics, she worked as an educator for refugees and underprivileged youth and served on the municipal council of Mannheim. Akbulut is known for her pro-Kurdish activism and her critical stance toward the Turkish government, as well as her advocacy for democratic economic reforms within Germany.
