堂込麻紀子

Makiko Dougomi is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the House of Councillors. Born in Ami, Ibaraki Prefecture, she graduated from Ryutsu Keizai University. Before entering politics, she had a long career with the Aeon Retail labor union, where she held various executive positions and worked on international assignments. She was elected to the House of Councillors in 2022 as an independent candidate supported by the Democratic Party for the People and the Constitutional Democratic Party, later joining the Democratic Party for the People in 2025. Her policy positions include support for gender equality measures such as selective separate surnames for married couples and same-sex marriage, while she has expressed opposition to constitutional revision and the expansion of defense spending.
