Жанбыршин, Едил Терекбайулы

Edil Zhanbyrshin is a Kazakhstani politician and scientist who has served as a Member of the Majilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan since 2021. A Doctor of Technical Sciences, he previously held various academic and administrative roles, including serving as the Akim (Mayor) of Aktau from 2012 to 2015. Throughout his political career, Zhanbyrshin has been involved in significant legislative initiatives, including the 2022 proposal to restore the name Astana to the capital city and various environmental and social policy debates. He is known for his active participation in parliamentary committees and his vocal, often controversial, stances on issues ranging from animal welfare legislation to the regulation of public discourse.
