Eduardo Leite

Eduardo Leite is a Brazilian politician currently serving as the Governor of Rio Grande do Sul. First elected in 2018 at age 33, he became the youngest governor in Brazil's history and later secured a second term in 2022. Previously, he served as the Mayor of Pelotas from 2013 to 2016, where he gained recognition for fiscal austerity and management reforms. Leite, who identifies as a social liberal, made history in 2021 by becoming the first openly gay governor in Brazil. Throughout his career, he has prioritized fiscal responsibility, pension reform, and the privatization of state-owned enterprises.
