Edward Málaga

Edward Málaga is a Peruvian neurobiologist, musician, and politician serving as a Member of the Congress of the Republic of Peru. Born in Lima, he studied biology at Cayetano Heredia University and earned his doctorate in microbiology and immunology from the University of Miami and the Max Planck Institute for Biology. Before entering politics, he played guitar in the rock band Arena Hash and worked extensively in scientific research, notably pioneering the use of zebrafish embryos to study neurodegeneration. Elected to Congress in 2021 under the Purple Party, he became a prominent figure in the legislative push that led to the presidential vacancy of Pedro Castillo, campaigning on a platform centered on science, technology, and innovation.
