Eugene Vindman is an American politician, lawyer, and retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel serving as the U.S. representative for Virginia's 7th congressional district since 2025. Born in the Soviet Union, he immigrated to the United States as a child and later served 25 years in the military, including as a deputy legal advisor to the National Security Council. He gained national prominence for his role in reporting the 2019 telephone call between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which became central to the first impeachment of Donald Trump. Following his military retirement, he worked with the Atrocity Crimes Advisory group before his election to Congress, where he serves on the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Armed Services Committee.
