Farooq Sattar

Muhammad Farooq Sattar is a veteran Pakistani politician and a prominent figure in the Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan (MQM-P). Educated as a medical professional at Jinnah Sindh Medical University, he began his political career in the late 1970s and famously served as the Mayor of Karachi starting in 1987. Throughout his extensive career, he has held various high-level positions, including Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Leader of the Opposition in the Provincial Assembly of Sindh. Known for his long-standing parliamentary presence, Sattar has been a key advocate for the political interests of Karachi and has navigated complex internal party dynamics, including the restructuring of the MQM to operate independently within Pakistan.
