First elected in 2007 representing Shefford, he was a member of the Action démocratique du Québec before joining the Coalition Avenir Québec. Throughout his career, he has held several high-profile cabinet positions, including Minister of Transport, Minister of Public Security, and Minister of Immigration, Francisation and Integration. He also served as the party's House Leader.
