Before entering politics, he worked as a management consultant and spent over two decades as a team leader and manager at the Advanced Mask Technology Center in Dresden. A member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) since 1996, he also serves on the local advisory board for the Dresden-Blasewitz district.
